I was thinking this when I doodled on this photo - I pictured little helpers hiding all around us as we walked down the street, waiting to help, be called upon, or to just say hi. (Watch out for the mean ones, though!).⁠

One of my missions for this year is to help MORE PEOPLE, yes - this means YOU! ⁠
.⁠
This could be from simple things like an uplifting note here in insta that magically comes at the right time or through a youtube video showing you how you can stay sane and productive even when you feel like there are elements out of your control. .. and through 1-on-1 personal coaching and strategizing. ⁠
.⁠
1-on-1 coaching is something I’ve been doing, but due to time, it’s been really limiting to how many I can help. This, though, is the fastest way to really move you forward and create change in a BIG WAY! ⁠
.⁠

I’m an anxious person. I admit it. TODAY, I did

I’m an anxious person. I admit it. TODAY, I did a simple mental change that CHANGED EVERYTHING!
.
Normally, when I take Lee to school in the morning, I’m a bit anxious for various reasons, mainly because I’m running late, thinking about all my “to-dos” for the day, and I’m super paranoid about being extra vigilant about cars (as we cross the street), etc.. (I am constantly thinking about cars turning recklessly and what might happen to little Lee scootering happily across the vast streets of Broadway)
.
TODAY, for some reason (I think it’s all the meditation I’ve been doing!), I decided just to let go of all of that. I walked with Lee carefree of today’s task and while still very aware of cars and hazards on the way - Instead of my mind going straight to the worst-case scenario, I let it go when it came to mind.
.
Do you know what happened? Lee and I spoke more than we normally do, and we were super playful. We “raced” down blocks, him telling me to slow down, and then me running backward... leading to him laughing joyfully.
.
By the time we got to school, we were both laughing hysterically. As Lee said goodbye to me, he had a huge smile (under his mask) and just kept saying “bye mama .. bye mama” in his silly, playful way - as other kids were waiting for him.
.
He was SOOO HAPPY! And you know what? So was I!
.
I walked home, smiling, and I didn’t pull out my phone or put in earbuds immediately like I usually do. I didn’t start looking at emails, slacks, or misc—social media. I walked home listening to the NYC sounds and observing everything around me. I was present.
.
I know this is something I have heard countless times - to be present, etc.. (I mean, that’s why I’m meditating) but to start feeling the results is amazing.
.
While the world is full of so much - many not great, focus on what you can control, and what you can control is how you think, are, and act.
.
This morning was simple but reminded me that I have so much power to change my enjoyment in life through letting go, positive thinking, being present, and JUST HAVING FUN BEING SILLY! & it's contagious.!

2021= rough start so far. ⁠
I thought I would wake up feeling empowered and super motivated the morning of January 1, 2021, to make all my grand @jazzkatat dreams into a reality. ⁠
.⁠
But the reality? The first two days of 2021, I was the laziest I've been in months. To the point where I started to get really down, and self-doubt crept in. ⁠
.⁠
My inner voice - "cmon, you can't even motivate the first days of the year? .. already failing... give up now..." ⁠
.⁠
Do you have inner voices like this too? .I started getting feelings of just hiding forever: way less work, pressure, and anxiety. ⁠
It would be "easy" to continue life as is and go into the shadows.⁠
.⁠
Why would I want to do more? ⁠
What is the "why" for building jazzkatat into something "more" than a place where I post photos/doodles? ⁠
.⁠
These are the questions that I really thought through today. Yes, it was a heavy self-reflection type of Sunday. ⁠
.⁠
What I came out with? ⁠
.⁠
1. I'm not sure. Lol ---> it's true! And that's okay. I have to remind myself that there is no such thing as the "perfect" plan - b/c we all know that goes to crap anyway. ⁠
2. What I did realize. The reason for growing jazzkatat into something other than pictures of my kids is to HELP others and that is what makes it all worth it.⁠

💛 For fertility, a message that my story gave hope for their own.⁠
💛 When a student has gotten their first job because of my online school, I helped create. ⁠
💛When someone writes, thank you for making my day better after reading a post.⁠
.⁠
My purpose - is to help others in their journey - in any little or big way. ⁠
.⁠
With that in mind, I am going to take this one step at a time. I am rethinking how I will be posting here @jazzkatat and also starting a youtube channel. ⁠
.⁠

2020 .. What just happened?!?⁠ Just one more day

2020 .. What just happened?!?⁠
Just one more day of 2020, and I think we can all agree, it’s been a year like none of us could have ever envisioned it.⁠
. ⁠
When the pandemic hit, it affected EVERYONE, not just a few, and everyone had their own unique situation and struggles.⁠
.⁠
A lot of change has happened during this short period of time. Change is scary and uncertain, for sure, but it also leads to growth and creativity. ⁠
.⁠
With change comes new opportunities and opened your eyes to areas you may not have planned, or it allowed you to really tap into what you WANT to do with your life. ⁠
.⁠
For me, 2020 brought one of my biggest wishes to reality (though not in the way that I envisioned) - I could work from home while being with my family. I felt like I have really been able to watch them grow and be a part of every moment. ⁠
.⁠
[on a side note: Of course, nothing is perfect --> mom guilt comes in whenever I try to "get work done," and T or Lee wants to play at the same time. It's all a balance of creating a perfect imperfect life, am I right?? :) ]⁠
.⁠
2020 is the year where my side hustle, @academyofanimatedart, grew its wings, and I'm so proud to be helping so many grow their futures and career in computer animation. ⁠
.⁠
2020 is also the year that I have connected with so many inspiring and strong women in the #fertility community. You are all truly inspiring, and it's your journeys that keep me vocal and advocating. ⁠
.⁠
Thank you to everyone for all the support, all the stories that I've read, and for being a "social" friend during a time of extreme isolation. ⁠
.⁠
I am grateful to you. Thank you truly. ⁠
.⁠
Here is to 2021 and making dreams into reality. ⁠

Every year, I think I'm not going to do a holiday card, and like clockwork, at the last minute, I have an idea that inspires me to create! ⁠
. ⁠
This year, I made these puppet elf craft ornaments, only intending to put them on the tree, but I couldn't help but make them into something more. They are the stars of our holiday card. No trying to get the perfect shot of everyone looking when the stars are inanimate photographs already, lol! ⁠
.⁠
I think we can all agree that 2020 has not been what we expected or could ever have imagined. Lives will never be the same. ⁠
.⁠
I hope you have been able to battle the storm safely and with some sanity left. Here's hoping that 2021 is the calm after the storm.⁠

P.S. - A friend asked me what program I used to create this. I laughed and wrote: The program is called "Jasmine spends too much time on this when she should be doing other things, but can't help herself."⁠
⁠
For those that want to know the breakdown: ⁠
1. I create the elf puppets (photos, cutouts, laminator, hole puncher, pins)⁠
2. T draws the background⁠
3. Take photos of all of it - background and all the animation still frames I want for the stop motion⁠
4. Bring it into photoshop - individually mask them out, place them on the background - save out the single combined images.⁠
5. Bring those into procreate and create an animated gif with them. ⁠
6. I did want to doodle contact shadows and other fun things frame by frame, but I had to say "good enough" b/c I was already behind in all my other work! ⁠
